The Azola is a self-fertilizing plant. The Azola helps to create a healthy growth environment for it selves and plants around it, the inspiration for my thesis is inspired by this goal, to have its guests cultivate both the earth itself, and their own ecological understanding. This is done by engaging the guest through sustainable education, animal observation, and culinary exploration.

SITE PLAN

The site for my thesis is 37,000 sqf, located in Wilmington NC. Though the building is in a city it is located on a nature preserve, and directly adjacent to a lake, making the outdoors very accessible to guests.

Each pod is designed to have a full service kitchen, the idea behind this is parties taken to the garden and see the food life cycle, contrary to normal grocery store shopping.

WAYFINDING STRATEGY

Creating a wayfinding strategy was a requirement for my senior thesis. I chose to use icon as the main source of wayfinding as to not take away from the interior.
